Stun master gun Ban Dropped

A proposal to ban stun gun sales to civilians in California was dropped by legislators Wednesday, handing a victory to weapon maker taser gun International Inc. and its Sacramento lobbyist. Rick Smith, taser stun gun’s chief executive, was relieved that Assembly legislators rejected the ban on civilian sales proposed by Assemblyman Mark Leno, D-San Francisco.

Company officials were concerned that such a ban would hurt future sales in the nation’s largest consumer market.”It was a well-reasoned decision and removing the proposed ban was accepted by Assembly members as the right thing to do,” Smith said. The taser c2 chief executive didn’t see as much of his company headquarters in Scottsdale, Ariz., as usual this spring.

He camped out in a hotel near the Capitol, conferring with veteran Republican lobbyist Robyn Black as he waged an intense campaign to torpedo Leno’s proposed civilian sales ban. Smith and Black told legislators it was wrong and unfair to ban cheap stun gunss, while handguns are legal. The company said it sells an average of about 1,000 stun guns to California civilians each year.
